Fresh Salsa on Sunday

. . . on
the table at the midpoint
of summer . . .

Salsa on Sunday2

 the tomato,
star of the earth . . .
sheds
its own light,
benign majesty.

Red onions

Red Onion

happily it is wed
to the clear onion . . .
it is the wedding
of the day . . .

lemons

. . . the tomato offers
its gift of fiery color
and cool completeness.

Salsa on Sunday

from Pablo Neruda's "Ode to Tomatoes"

  5. Beautiful images, Sadee! But tell me this: did you have tortilla chips to go with your beautiful salsa? When we were in Germany last, the only place we found them was at the huge KaDeWe in Berlin. It has been awhile, uuummm, ten years, but wouldn't you think everyone would love tortilla chips :)?
